As a student majoring in Finance and Healthcare Management, Mahamane Abarry described his internship in the Lighthouse Guild Finance Department as “a perfect fit.” What’s more, he felt a strong connection to the mission of  inspiring people who are visually impaired to attain their goals. “I come from an African nation, and I wish we had similar organizations there,” he said. “The work is a noble cause.”

I know that the work I do each day contributes to Lighthouse Guild’s ability to provide quality care."

Mahamane, Volunteer

Mahamane was so impressed with Lighthouse Guild that when his internship ended he continued volunteering in the Finance Department. The feeling was mutual: Mahamane was recently hired to work full time in that department. Holding down a full time job while completing his Masters degree is challenging, but rewarding. “I know that the work I do each day contributes to Lighthouse Guild’s ability to provide quality care,” he says.

Mahamane adds that the people on the Finance team have been very welcoming and are always available to provide guidance. ”The experience continues to be a ‘perfect fit,” he says, “bettering me professionally, while also providing enormous personal satisfaction. As I’ve said to my colleagues, ‘Anything I can do to help, sign me up.’”
