Low Vision Specialist Dr. Rebekah Lin Joins Lighthouse Guild

New York, NY (October 27) — Rebekah Lin, OD, FAAO, an optometrist specializing in vision rehabilitation and low vision ocular disease, has joined Lighthouse Guild’s team of low vision specialists. Dr. Lin, who is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, joins a team of highly trained and experienced experts at Lighthouse Guild in providing specialized care for individuals who are blind or visually impaired, offering a range of services to address each patient’s unique needs. 

 “Over seven million American’s have vision loss or blindness”, says Dr. Lin, “and as a low vision specialist, I’m looking forward to working with the team at Lighthouse Guild to help patients maintain a healthy lifestyle, optimize their vision, reduce their risk of further vision loss and maximize their eyesight using adaptive devices and exercises.” 

Prior to joining Lighthouse Guild, Lin served as assistant clinical professor atSUNY College of Optometry and the University Eye Center in New York City. In addition to caring for patients and supervising third and fourth year optometric students in its Primary Care, Low Vision, and Head Trauma Clinics, Dr. Lin served as co-instructor of the Low Vision elective program, coordinator of the Low Vision laboratory, and supervisor of the Low Vision Ocular Disease Micro-Credential Program. 

Lin has performed various clinical research studies in the areas of myopia control, contact lenses, macular degeneration, and diagnostic imaging. Several of her abstracts have been published by the American Academy of Optometry and Southern Council of Optometrists International. 

Lin completed a Residency in Low Vision Rehabilitation at the College of Optometry at the State University of New York, a Doctorate of Optometry at the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry, and a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology at John Muir College at the University of California, San Diego. 

Dr. Lin has given lectures on topics regarding low vision, low vision technology and vision rehabilitation.
